The Secret Behind Soft Lips...

The Secret Behind Soft Lips...

When you hear or see the word "exfoliate", what's the first thing that comes to mind? Your face and body, right? Well in this case, we're talking about lip exfoliation and how it is the ultimate secret to sustaining soft lips. Like the skin on the rest of our body, the lips too can become dry and filled with excess dead skin. Typically, we experience dryness of the lips when we're not hydrated, in weather climates that are cooler or prone to high winds, constantly licking the lips thinking saliva will be the cure, and/or using cheap balms that are made to dry the lips out.
.

Below are a few tips on how to get started with your lip care routine and how to maintain healthy, moisturized, kissable lips.

So, what is exfoliation?

Exfoliating is the process of removing dead skin cells from the surfaces of your skin using a granular substance or exfoliation tool.

 How to start:

  1. First, find a lip scrub that you love. Make sure you're doing your research on the ingredients that it contains. This part is important as you don't want to rub toxins on your lips. I highly recommend our "Melrose Mint Scrub" as it contains all the healthy oils such as: Avocado oil, Vitamin E oil, Peppermint oil etc... which are needed to keep your lips moisturized and soft.
  2. Use your fingertip to transfer a small amount of scrub onto your lips. Spread the scrub around, making sure you cover everything. Then, simply use your finger to exfoliate away any dry or dead skin. For a little extra exfoliating power, use a soft bristled toothbrush instead of your finger.
  3. Once you're done scrubbing, rinse with water and pat dry. Your lips will immediately feel soft and look shiny without any balm. Remember, you should exfoliate no more than 3x a week. You don't want to over exfoliate and cause irritation.
  4. Last step, my favorite part! So even though your lips are feeling and looking great, we still want to seal the moisturizer in from the scrub with a nice lip-gloss or balm. Like I said earlier the most important thing to do is research your ingredients in both the scrubs and lip balm or gloss you decided to use. We have an amazing rose infused lip-gloss just for this (C-Thru)  It's truly a moisturizer more than it is a gloss. Take a look at our products to get yours today.
